Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, Brighton, Michigan
The silver-white, gold-edged ‘Alleluia’ hangings are intended to compliment the ‘White’ seasons of the church year, specifically Christmas, and Easter, and hang vertically, under the blue chancel cross. The gold ‘line’ on the ‘Alleluias’ is suggestive of the Spirit of God, (Genesis 1:2) present through all time, since creation, and active in today’s world.
The left ‘Alleluia’ hanging reads from the bottom edge, up, and is meant to visually symbolize the offerings of worship and praise from members of the congregation - man’s response to God’s greatest gift, the birth of our Savior, and our redemption through His Death and Resurrection. The right ‘Alleluia’ hanging reads from the top edge, down, and is a reminder of the blessing come down from heaven, as well as all the ‘Alleluias’ of the heavenly host – angels and saints through the ages.
